On Friday 23rd February, we gathered at the Adelaide Convention Centre for our Graduation and Awards Night, celebrating the remarkable achievements of our graduates, finalists, and winners.

With over 500 attendees, the evening was filled with joy, inspiration, and a deep sense of pride.

Our MC for the evening, Mark Bickley, guided us through the event with his characteristic energy and enthusiasm, making the evening truly memorable.

We were honoured to have Hon Blair Boyer MP, Minister for Education, Training & Skills, join us for this night of celebration. Minister Boyer delivered a motivational congratulatory speech, highlighting the incredible accomplishments of our students and the promising future they represent.
Our guest speaker, Chris Blowes, shared his inspiring story of resilience, reminding us all of the power of perseverance in the face of challenges.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors for their generous support, without which this event would not have been possible.

On Thursday 24th of November, Australia’s HVAC&R industry held their AIRAH 2022 Awards at Luna Park, Sydney.

We are pleased to congratulate PEER apprentice, Nicholas Scriva, who is hosted by PD Technologies, on becoming Runner-Up for the 2022 Student of the Year Award!

The awards are designed to recognise and reward a student demonstrating outstanding commitment to their studies and/or research at any level in the HVAC&R industry.

PD Technologies says: “Nicholas makes the job easier by being proactive and confident in taking initiative when he encounters a problem or when he undertakes a complex task”

We are very proud of his achievements so far and look forward to watching him grow in the HVAC&R industry. Congratulations, Nicholas!

On Friday 25th November, AMCA National held their 2022 Industry Excellence Awards in Brisbane.

We are excited to announce that PEER Graduate, Dylan Hannam, won the Apprentice of the Year award!

Dylan recently completed a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Apprenticeship with PEER. His last host employer was PD Technologies, and he is now employed by Acer Air.

This award recognises apprentices who have excelled in their career and studies, communication skills, team and leadership skills and contribution to community service.

Dylan Hannam says: “Winning this award is a great way to end on what’s been a fantastic 4-year apprenticeship”

“A highlight to the hard work, long hours, and absolute jungle of challenges and paths that’s hit not only me as an apprentice but industry in general. Along with a credit to my training organisation, host employers, peers, suppliers and builders. All providing excellent grounds of education to gain experience and build a skill base and bank of knowledge in the refrigeration and air-conditioning trade,” he says.

“I look forward to using this great foundation to go out, continue on with my trade, learn and further improve out into all the diverse areas and skill sets of the trade. Also, to see what challenges and opportunities it may lead to.”

On Thursday 24th November, NECA National held their 2022 National Awards Dinner at Eos by SkyCity in Adelaide.

NECA recognises the essential role apprentices play in the future of our industry. The NECA Apprentice Awards showcase the outstanding contribution an apprentice can make to the projects they work on and to their employer’s business.

We are thrilled to announce that PEER Graduate, Lauren Steicke, won the 4th Year ELV / Communications Apprentice of the Year Award!

Lauren recently completed her Data Communication Apprenticeship with PEER and is now employed by Pro AV Solutions.

Apprentice and Trainee Supervisor, Aaron Mitchell, says: “Every site visit with Lauren was a pleasure, she showed initiative well beyond her years and has built strong relationships with her host and clients.”

We are incredibly proud of Lauren’s achievements and look forward to watching her grow in the industry, congratulations Lauren!

Thomas Downie, a former Craigmore High School student was recently awarded the NASSSA VET Student of the Year Award. The NASSSA North program involves 12 schools, 70 VET programs and approximately 900 students. Each year, high achieving students are recognized at the annual awards ceremony.

During his final year of high school, Thomas was nominated for several categories in the 2020 NASSSA VET Awards. This included the VET Electrical Student of the Year Award and the NASSSA VET Student of the Year Award, which over 900 students competed for.

Thomas, a gifted footballer with the Central Districts football club, has been successful in applying for and being offered an electrical apprenticeship with PEER, which he commenced earlier this year. Thomas was also a finalist in the 2021 PEER Apprentice Awards – VET Student of the Year category.

On Friday 26 February, PEER held its annual Graduation and Awards Night at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

A great night was enjoyed by all guests as we acknowledged and celebrated the achievements and efforts of our graduating apprentices and trainees as well as recognising our award-winning students, apprentices, trainees and host employers.

Nearly 500 guests attended including Minister for Innovation and Skills and industry VIPs. The MC for the evening was Mark Bickley and special guest speaker was Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello.

The Small Training Provider of the Year Award recognises a registered training organisation that offers a specific range of training products and services and demonstrates excellence and high-level performance in all aspects of vocational education and training.

Commencing in 1994, the Australian Training Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements in the vocational education and training sector.

We are also pleased to announce that Jack Bonetti (pictured right), who recently completed a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician with PEER and is now employed with Livewire Digital, is progressing to the Australian Training Awards in the Apprentice of the Year category.

Winners across 17 different award categories will be announced during the Australian Training Awards online event on Friday 20 November.

South Australia’s best apprentices in the electrical and communications industry were awarded for their outstanding achievements at this year’s NECA SA/NT Apprentice Awards held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday 9th October.

We are pleased to announce that PEER Communications and Data Apprentice Steven Thomas was successful in winning National NECA Apprentice of the Year Award for the Communications category!

Steven is a Communications and Data Apprentice hosted out to Apex Communication Technologies. Steven possesses a positive attitude, enthusiasm and commitment to his work along with a strong passion for the industry, which will see him do well in a successful career.

The entire team at PEER are extremely proud of Steven’s achievements and we look forward to watching him establish a successful career in the industry.
